Robin Class

Robin ClassWelcome to Year 2 and Robin Class. Our teacher is Mrs Nightingale and Mrs Croucher is our Teaching Assistant. Mrs Croucher also looks after us at lunchtimes.

Our main aim is to ensure that the needs of all of the children are met, that they are happy and safe and that they enjoy coming to school.

Our school motto is: Be Kind ~ Be Your Best ~ Be Happy. We believe that working closely with the families we serve is a key factor in achieving these aims.

PE is on a Thursday afternoon for our class. Children come to school in their PE Kit with trainers (including joggers and a tracksuit top if the weather is cool) on Thursdays, in order to minimise the personal items / PE Kits stored in school. PE bags remain in school with a spare set of clothes in case your child gets wet/muddy during the school day and needs to change.

Reading and Library Books
We have Reading Scheme books each week to read at home. Our main Reading Scheme is “Read Write Inc” but in Year 2, we quickly progress onto a variety of other scheme books and Real Readers as our confidence grows. Reading Books are changed once a week, usually on the same day each week and there is a reading information sheet inside our books bags with information on how to support reading at home. Library Time is run by Mrs Bellamy, one of our team of volunteers, every Thursday afternoon and we really enjoy changing the books we have borrowed and sharing book recommendations with our friends.

Homework is set each week on a Friday and is to be completed by Thursday the following week. The set homework can be viewed on this Class page or via our individual Seesaw Remote Learning accounts. Children are expected to read their reading book everyday for 5 to 10 minutes and also to complete a handwriting task each week. We value parent support, in particular with hearing children read, as this is a fundamental skill to being able to access all areas of the curriculum.

Trips and Visits
We enjoy a variety of trips and visitors to school each term. We often go for walks around the village and Rev. Miranda also visits regularly to lead assemblies. Other visits include trips to Museums, the Farm Park, the pantomime and a variety of sporting events.
Visits to the school from prospective parents are warmly encouraged. Please do not hesitate to contact the school office if you have any questions. We look forward to having your child in Robin Class.
