Owl Class

Welcome to Reception Owl class.
Owl ClassMiss Glascodine and Mrs Traviss will be your class teachers and we will be supported by the wonderful Mrs Miller. We have been working hard over the summer to make the classroom and outdoor area exciting and safe for you all. We are really excited for the year ahead, we have lots of fun learning planned and cannot wait to get to know you all.

In Reception we follow the Early Years Foundation Statutory Framework. Children will explore this in many ways including, whole class teaching, small group work with an adult, independent work and through playing with carefully selected activities. The children have opportunities to learn indoors and outdoors. Our main aim at Clipston School is to ensure that the needs of all the children are met, that they are happy and safe and that they enjoy coming to school. We believe that working with families is a key factor in achieving these aims, so parents, if you have concerns or worries please feel free to speak with us.

P.E.
PE is on Friday for our class. They children should bring their PE Kit with trainers (including joggers and a tracksuit top if the weather is cool) on this day. We will be supporting them to become independent in dressing themselves.
In Owl Class we know the importance of physical activity and therefore we will be ensuring they achieve the daily recommendations including morning, lunch, afternoon break. In addition, there will be opportunities for physical activity throughout the day for example 5-minute activity sessions, yoga, and assault courses in the outdoor area.

Home/School Reading Books
Soon your child will be coming home with two reading books a week, we encourage them to read and enjoy these at home. The books support our phonics scheme ‘ReadWrite Inc.’ Books will be changed once a week, usually on the same day. We will be sending home further information on how you can help to support your child with their reading over the coming weeks.

Library Time is every Thursday afternoon. Please ensure that your child’s book is returned every week.

Clothes
Please could you ensure that all your child’s clothes are named (including ties!)
, as this should help your child’s belongings to be returned to them if lost or misplaced. Any lost property will be put in either the box in our cloakroom or the hall cupboard.

We hope this will have addressed some of your questions regarding how we will work this year in Owl Class, but if you have any other queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Many thanks for your co-operation.
Miss Glascodine, Mrs Traviss and Mrs Miller
