Clipston Endowed VC Primary School

Owl Class

We are a class of Reception and Year 1 children. Our teacher is Miss Glascodine and we are supported by Miss Butt. We also have Mrs Dewar and Mrs Woodgate helping in our classroom every day.

We attach great importance to child initiated learning and developing children’s creativity, critical thinking and problem solving skills. We believe that working with families is a key factor in achieving these aims.

For children in reception we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Curriculum. The EYFS has the child at its centre, our planning starts with observing the children in order to understand and consider their current interests, development and learning. Our main aim at Clipston School is to ensure that all children’s’ individual needs are met, that they are happy and safe and that they thoroughly enjoy coming to school.

P.E.
PE is on Monday afternoons for both reception and Year 1. All children need to have PE shorts, t-shirt and trainers in school. Jogging bottoms and a sweatshirt are required for colder days when PE is outside.

Home/School Reading Books
Reading books are changed in school whenever the children have finished reading them to an adult.

Homework & Spellings
All children are given homework every Friday. This is to be completed in their CGP books and will either be a Maths, Reading or Grammar based task (Year 1). An outline of the children’s learning from the week will also be in their homework books which includes a section for parent and child comments. Finally, all children are given new spellings & phonic words to learn at home every week.
