We are a class of Reception and Year 1 children. Our teacher is Miss Glascodine and we are supported by Mrs Miller.
We attach great importance to child initiated learning and developing children’s creativity, critical thinking and problem solving skills as part of our provision of a broad and balanced curriculum. We believe that working with families is a key factor in achieving these aims.
For children in Reception we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Curriculum. The EYFS has the child at its centre, our planning starts with observing the children in order to understand and consider their current interests, development and learning.
In Year 1 the children follow the National Curriculum. Our main aim at Clipston School is to ensure that the individual needs of all children are met, that they are happy and safe and that they thoroughly enjoy coming to school.
PE is on Monday afternoons for our class. Your child should come to school in their PE Kit with trainers (including joggers and a tracksuit top if the weather is cool) on Mondays, in order to minimise the personal items / PE Kits stored in school. Contact sports will not take place. Equipment will be cleaned or quarantined for 72 hours, before being used by another Class Bubble.
Home/School Reading Books Your child will have two reading books a week to read at home. Books will be changed once a week, usually on the same day. Please see the reading information sheet inside your child’s reading wallet for more information on how you can help to support your child with their reading at home. Library Time is every Wednesday afternoon. Please ensure that your child’s book is returned every week. Books will be quarantined for 72 hours upon their return to school, in line with our Risk Assessment.
Homework & Spellings Please log into your Seesaw Journal to access your homework tasks.
EYFS children will have an online learning journal on Tapestry. Parents/carers will be able to view all observations, photographs and videos from their child's time in Early Years. This enables parents/carers to follow their child’s progress closely and allow them to reflect upon their child's achievements with them. Parents/carers can also add their own comments and photos from home that we will share as a class.
Payment for Trips/Activities
When your child brings a letter or monies into school, please help us to process it efficiently by sending it in a named envelope to myself or Mrs Miller via your child’s book bag rather than through the office.
Please could you ensure that all of your child’s clothes are named (including ties!), as this should help your child’s belongings to be returned to them if lost or misplaced. Any lost property found will be put in the box in our cloakroom.
We hope this will have addressed some of your questions regarding how we will work this year in Owl Class, but if you have any other queries please do not hesitate to contact us.
Many thanks for your co-operation.
