We are a class of Reception and Year 1 children. Our teacher is Miss Glascodine and we are supported by Miss Butt.
We attach great importance to child initiated learning and developing children’s creativity, critical thinking and problem solving skills as part of our provision of a broad and balanced curriculum. We believe that working with families is a key factor in achieving these aims.
For children in Reception we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Curriculum. The EYFS has the child at its centre, our planning starts with observing the children in order to understand and consider their current interests, development and learning.
In Year 1 and 2 the children follow the National Curriculum with myself and Mrs Butcher planning together on a weekly basis so the children access similar learning experiences across the whole Key Stage.
Our main aim at Clipston School is to ensure that the individual needs of all children are met, that they are happy and safe and that they thoroughly enjoy coming to school.
PE is on Monday afternoons for all of KS1. All children need to have PE shorts, t-shirt, trainers and spare socks in school. Jogging bottoms and a sweatshirt are required for colder days when PE is outside. Please make sure ALL items of clothing are named.
Home/School Reading Books
Your child will have two reading books a week to read at home. Books will be changed once a week, usually on the same day. Please see the reading information sheet inside your child’s reading wallet.
Homework & Spellings
All children are given homework every Friday. This is to be completed in their CGP books and will either be a Maths or a Reading Comprehension based task for KS1 and just Maths for EYFS. On occasion, creative tasks may be set which link to other current learning.
Finally, Year 1 & 2 will be given termly spelling lists (stuck in the back of their grey homework books) Each week’s spelling list will need to be practised at home ready to be tested the following Friday.
Please speak to your child’s class teacher if you have any queries or questions.
Many thanks for your co-operation.
